Post-IHG post ~_~

Its over now... At least for my 3rd year...
Really had the believe that we can actually make it at least to the Semis...
The matches against Temasek Hall was very very close... One or two points difference can just change everything...
The first match of Terence, Josh and Wuhong was very very close... Slightest of error or nerve can really cost a lot to the game...
Luck and nerve definitely played a big part here... Those lucky points were totally on the opponents side today... Maybe its becos I forgot to "bai bai" today ba? Hitting the net and roll over or bounce back to our court was very frustrating points to lose...
Terence made a number or great serves and both Wuhong and Josh managed to do some killing too
However, sometimes nerves just cos ppl to make mistake... Some of their killings were not at their normal standard...
One small difference can really change everything... I can feel that they are in quite a lot of pressure then... even more than when I played last year with Xing Hua and Yan Hua...
Shouted til i lost my voice... >_<

Despite losing to TH, we still had a chance to fight into the semis, provided that TH beats KR...
After the TH game, I was (unwillingly) asked to be the umpire for the RH-SH game.... NOoooo... ~_~
Very scared of being the man that decide the game... Summore I ve lost my voice due to all the cheering and shouting... -_-'''
There I was, at the middle of the court, on the 1.5 m tall wobbly scary chair... With my dunno-who-bit-it-before whistle and a stopwatch... Accidentally put the whistle into my mouth without wiping it at least... YUCK~~~!!!! Then watever, just use it lah... wat done is done... hope the previous person used it does not have any oral diseases ~_~

I try to call out to the team captains but found no sound coming out from my throat... sianz,... So went down to call for them to start the game... One of the players even requested that I speak more loudly... As though I dun want to...
Throughout the game shout until my throat starts to hurt... Damn!
I expected being an "ump" is going to be difficult but never expected this much pressure... -_-
There are moments of close calls that I thought I had done reasonably well... I hope I did well...
One thing to scared about being an Ump is you may make decisions that MAY appear to be bias towards a team... I tried my best to be fair.... Linesman really play a big role... at least for me... Some balls you ccant just see whether its out or in... This time you will have to trust ur linesman..
There was one occasion when the ball had hit the floor, but the RH player had blocked my view of the ball... therefore i had to consult my 2 linesmen... in the end one said its out while the other said its in... OMG siao liao... I guess I had to make my own judgment based on the reaction of the crowd... Most RH ppl and players shouted out while SH ppl keep silent... I made the decision that it was OUT... No objections and the game went on...
I guess you can learn a lot of things from the IHG competitions... There was one player that wasn't satisfy with my judgment that its a fault that the corner of his jersey touched the net and shouted angrily at me... But rule is rule and undoubtedly any part touching the net is a fault ao I stood to my decision... Guess there's no point in showing him the yellow card cos that will only make things worse... Moreover I can't even hear a thing he said due to the cheering and bottle hitting of the SH supporter LOL
There was another player that maybe got his adrenaline pumped too much into his brain that he started provoking the opponents... I let it go for the first set... However, in the second set he still remains the same... Although there's no rule saying that provoking is a fault (i guess -_-) i think i need to give him a talk... Told him that pls dont provoke the opponents and he apologized... I hope I did the right thing....
Its fun to watch Takraw matches but its definitely not that fun umpiring it.... FINALLY the match is over... SH did some thrashing on RH, despite the 3rd regu did some fighting to bring the match to a tiebreak
I thought I did just OK for a beginner umpire... Although sometimes look a bit clumsy and stupid in my nerdy nerdy looking glass... I think 40-50% for my performance is reasonable enuf...
Pls dun make me an umpire of a match anymore ~_~
Unknowingly wrote too long, bad habit since Secondary school LOL
Maybe continue later... IF i still have the mood hahaz....
